A Scandal in Bohemia

The first of the book The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. I was beginning to wonder when Irene Adler was coming into the story. And here she is! With the movies I was curious how she fit into the story and why Mr. Holmes had a fascination for her. Now I understand. Of course the BBC Sherlock it was explained as well. I never tire of how quickly Sherlock Holmes can figure out the solution to the problems of his clients.

The Sign of Four

The Sign of Four was an excellent second installment of Sherlock Holmes. As always the characters were well thought out and the love between Dr. Watson and Mary is brought out in this book. I think this is my second favorite book of Doyle. The Hound of the Baskervilles will always be my favorite since it was the first book I read of Sherlock Holmes.

The story line was fast pace and I couldn't put it down for fear that the killer would get away. Our hero  undoubtedly saves the day and the marriage of Dr. Watson and Mary. Onto the next!

A Study in Scarlett

Okay so I changed my mind about the next book I was going to read. Instead of the last Sookie Stackhouse novel I decided to take it upon myself to read Sherlock Holmes. Ever since my boyfriend got me into the BBC's Sherlock, I've had withdrawals from the series. So to appease my craving, I thought it would be a good idea to read the famous detective and maybe have some insight as to HOW he died and then is back. What was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle thinking when he decided to kill the beloved detective? Now with the series, it has driven me to the point of insanity as to Sherlock jumping off a building and then at the end the twist. If you go by the books, Mr. Holmes is alive and well. If you go by the series, we all see him jump, blood everywhere and he is whisked away. See how this rattles my brains and drives me up the wall?

As for A Study In Scarlett, I was captivated by the fast pace of the mystery and how quickly Mr. Holmes solved the case with ease. I have decided to read on with Sherlock Holmes (and keeping Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Martin Freeman all in my mind as I read. A mix of all four playing their respective roles helps in the imagination of reading such books). I am pleased with Sir Doyle and I will continue to read (and reread The Hound of the Baskervilles) all of his novels before the new season of Sherlock comes to the television (as well as The Hobbit).

Cherry-o darlings!

Gold Unicorn

Tanith Lee captured my attention from the start. I feel like I'm with Tanaquil as she continues on her journey being the keeper of the key fossils to the Perfect World and seeing the World of Hell. This story has captured me. I can't wait to read Red Unicorn but first the final book of Sookie Stackhouse is calling my name.

Black Unicorn

I fear I will be making this a short blog. I'm tired, my head's a little foggy (the sangria may have something to do with that) and need to get up early in the morning for work. I may come back later and add more. So here goes... Black Unicorn by Tanith Lee was at first difficult to read. I was not used to her writing style but then as I read I understood more. I'm used to Mr. Bruce Coville's world of the unicorn where there was action and suspense on every page. Mrs. Tanith Lee did not capture that sense for me. However, the story it very good I did enjoy reading it very much. Onto my next adventure with Tanith Lee: Gold Unicorn.

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

All I can honestly say is...huh? It's a Russian soap opera with no true plot. The story of Anna Karenina was barely there and the story of Kitty and Levin was the best story of all! I started this book in November and just now finishing. This was not one of my favorites but it's a Tolstoy under my belt. Now I'm not so sure if I want to read War and Peace o.O Well on to the next book!

A Glory of Unicorns

This was a wonderful collection of short stories about unicorns from different authors. It brought me back to my childhood (which I do visit from time to time ;) ). All fans of Mr. Coville and unicorns should read this book. These stories touched my heart.

The Last Hunt

I know I just posted the blog of "Dark Whispers", I don't read that fast yet, I just had that blog on hold.

Another book that made me laugh and cry. As a whole, the Unicorn Chronicles are a wonderful treasure to read. I have enjoyed every word, page and minute of this series. "The Last Hunt" was the final piece that tied it all together. I was moved. I could not put this book down and even stayed up until 2 in the morning reading it.

Bravo Mr. Coville. Bravo!

Dark Whispers

Wow! I cried in this book. Another wonderful book by Mr. Coville. This is my favorite series and I'm very glad to have all the books. I laughed at Squijum, cried at a death, cried at happiness and shocked with the twist. I had a hard time putting this book down and now I'm working the final book of the series (however not really the final book I will read of his, I've got 2 more to read that go with the series). Anyone who loves unicorns will love the world of Luster.
